Painted Stork - Keoladeo Ghana National Park Bharatpur dates back to its rich past and an epic age when the Matsya Kingdom flourished here. It was a spectacular foundation of Maharaja Suraj Mal in 1733 AD. Bharatpur travel and tourism is most famous for its bird sanctuary. It is one of the most famous and amazing bird sanctuary in the world. It is an ultimate place for a bird- watcher as one gets to see the most exotic species of birds in addition to a rich wildlife. This place also houses many forts and palaces which depict the culture of Bharatpur. Away from the hustle-bustle of the city, the clear and cool airs of Bharatpur alleviates and makes a person's visit enjoyable to a great extent.

Bharatpur is also known as the home of Pelicans. It is famous for the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Keoladeo Ghana National Park. This beautiful bird sanctuary every year attracts thousands of bird lovers from all across the globe. The 18th century old fort built by the Jats of Bharatpur, is also worth to visit.

Keoladeo Ghana National Park : This park is well worth to visit, a staggering 364 species of birds have been recorded within the park's 29 sq km area. It's also one of the world's most important bird-breeding and feeding grounds, and a vital wintering area for aquatic birds, including species from Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, China and Siberia. There you can see the Srabian cranes i.e. the largest bird in the park & birds like herons, egrets, geese, owls, cormorants, kingfishers and even pythons. The perfect time for bird-watching is the early morning and evening. And to visit this park the best time is from October to February, when many migratory birds can be seen, including highly endangered Siberian crane.

Lohagarh : This Iron Fort was built in the 18th century by Maharaja Suraj Mahl, who was the founder of Bharatpur.

Laxmi Vilas Palace Bharatpur Palace : The palace is a perfect blend of Mughal & Rajput architecture. It decorated with lovely sculptures, beautiful floorings, the palace is now converted into a Government museum.

Ganga Temple : The huge temple is beautiful piece of architecture. It was built in 1845 by Maharaja Balwant Singh.

Laxman Temple : The temple is dedicated to the younger bother of Lord "RAMA". It is worth visiting for its exquisite carving & beautiful stone work.

Deeg Fort : The massive castle is located in the Deeg Village just 32 kms away from Bharatpur. The fort is worth visiting to see the beautiful carving & the exquisite inlay work. The fort compound includes lovely palaces, lush green gardens and the water tanks in the compound.

The climate in this city ranges from hot in summers and cold in winters. During summers, the temperature ranges from 38ºC to 45ºC and in winters the temperature falls below 10ºC . The average temperature falls down to 27ºC with a soaring humidity of 70% to 75 %. Foggy weather is a normal feature in the month of January.
